Hey Twitter, Chill Out

Each day Twitter stresses me out.  Every time I hit enter I cringe – “Did I miss a letter?”, “Does the link work?”, “Does anyone care?”  With every post I wonder how people who tweet all day ever get anything else done.

Part of this stress comes from the introvert in me (insert laugh from people who know me, here).  Most of the statements/thoughts I make within unsure surroundings are heavily weighed in my head and Twitter is not a place where this works in my favor.  But in addition to my personal strife, I’ve figured out that the Twitterverse, and the online conversation in general, is judgmental.  There are so many lists dedicated to Twitter don’ts that it’s a wonder there is anything left to say.

Because there are so many don’ts out there, I’ve developed a list of DOS, including recent examples from @nicoledepue, dedicated to all you introverts and over-thinkers trying to thrive in the Twitterverse.

-  Do tweet things that have helped make your day to day life a little easier.

“In case you too think the new Apple Shuffle is a bad design… http://bit.ly/15Pfs8

- When you find yourself seeking answers on the Internet, do tweet your findings.  Maybe someone else had the same question.

“An interesting clip on the recent swine flu emergency declaration. It’s a bit long but has some good information. http://bit.ly/n6hcL

- Do tweet about things that interest you.  This will partly ensure that your followers are not bored by your posts.  They chose to follow you for a reason.

“Slow is the new fast! Run Well blogger finishes NY marathon. http://bit.ly/27PCDj

- Do re-tweet posts in which you find yourself clicking on the included link.

“RT @LPG_Inc: What would you do for $10,000? Charmin looking for Times Square Bathroom Ambassadors (via @mashable ) http://ow.ly/vMKx

-  Do tweet things that make you laugh.

“Did you know you can change the language on your Facebook page to English- Pirate? Then “applications” become “arrplications”
